In August 2005 three families got together for a back yard barbecue. These families, the Cashs, Hamricks, and Kriegers, would become the launch team of Project X. God began at least as early as 2003 giving individuals in the launch team a vision for a new church in Bloomington that was truly a NEW church, dedicated to discovering and developing authentically post-modern paradigms of “being” and “doing” church that will fit post-modern people. Informal discussions and sharing of thoughts and feelings began happening in 2004.
From August to November the launch team met together to pray and worship together and to try to discern if God was calling us to plant a church. By Thanksgiving we were convinced. By early February we had our ministry prospectus which outlined our plan in detail and we had our first funding and endorsement from the American Baptist Churches of Indiana and Kentucky.
Throughout the spring of 2006 we raised funds and built a core group of people who would help us take the next steps on the journey to planting a church. In the summer we started our first cell groups and began outreach events. We launched our public worship celebration on September 9, 2006.
Our story is of people who have a desire to follow God on the edge of faith. We have a vision to share Jesus with the world in ways that are relevant to our culture.
